This book was written to show a little more of what Ellen White was like—not a superwoman or saint, but a real flesh-and-blood, warm and loving human being.

Description / Ellen

Ellen White walked into human history at the right time with the right message—a message for a world of many changes with men and women trying newfound freedoms. But as the 1800s wore on, people failed to identify with her as a living flesh-and-blood person. In the minds of many she became a sainted statue with a rule book in her hand.

To this day well-meaning but confused persons have too often been responsible for hurtful distortion of a gentle and lovely Christian lady, a true prophet of a loving Father in heaven.

Instead, her life work was intended to point men, women, youth and children to the goodness and truth of the Bible and to the great and good God of the Bible.

This book was written to show a little more of what Ellen White was like—not a superwoman or saint, but a real flesh-and-blood, warm and loving human being.

Ellen, a thoroughly modern christian woman, wife and mother
Review by
Ellen Gould Harmon White was born in 1827 and lived till 1915.That is 88 years through many huge changes in our county. She lived through the invention of the steam engine, Trains, carriages, Covered wagons, and sleighs going westward. As the world around her modernized so did Ellen, Her husband and children. The author as he tells Ellen's life story also tells you of the changes in our society which were vast, sweeping changes This is an interesting time period. Ellen went from going from Michigan to Iowa in December in a sleigh across the frozen Mississippi river and traveling in covered wagons to riding in a new Pullman sleeper car on the train and vacationing and relaxing in the Colorado mountains. She lived all over the United States moving westward as our country did.She even lived about a decade in Australia. Her final home was in the beautiful Napa Valley in California. This famous woman was a much sought after temperance speaker, she hand wrote more pages in the Library of Congress than any individual ever has. She was a prolific writer, speaker, wife and mother of 4 lively boys. How did she do this in the time before modern conveniences? Read the book and find out. This throughly modern Christian woman and follower of God often left her children with nanny's , cooks, Housekeeper so that she could serve God.It is a very interesting story.I can not put it down.Yes, Ellen lived quite an interesting life.
